General reminders for 3Guy

 

REMINDER Number 1

Make sure your full PE kit is in school. Our PE and Outdoor games day is Monday. For outdoor games you may wish to have a tracksuit top and tracksuit bottoms for when the weather is cooler.

 

REMINDER Number 2

Class reading books 

All children now have a class reading book.

Book changing will happen on Tuesday, but books and book bags are expected to be in school every day because your child may have to read their book to an adult in school.

It is expected that children will read their book at home for 15 minutes each evening as part of their homework. Please support your child in doing so and leave a short signed comment to say how home book reading has been. Thank you in advance for your support!

We have been learning the rules of the football pens, so that we can all play in there nicely together without any problems or misunderstandings! As you can see from the photos it was a lot of fun!!! smiley

We will use some of Dahl's most famous texts to investigate and explore what his amazingly imagined world's were like, and what the ups and downs of living there may be!

AUTUMN TERM SCIENCE - NUTRITION

 

In Science this half term we are studying nutrition. We are starting by looking at the food pyramid and the balance between the food groups, and also what we need certain food groups for in our daily intake.

In Science we have been talking about our favourite meals. We have discussed what 'healthy' food might mean and agreed that too much of anything doesn't make our intake a balanced one! Children have lots of great ideas about what makes a healthy meal. We have talked about the following words...

  • Carbohydrates (starches)
  • Carbohydrates (sugars)
  • Protein
  • Fat
  • Fibre
  • vitamins and minerals
  • water

 

Who can remember and explain to their parents what these words mean????
