At Alumwell, our art sessions are split between working in our sketch books on key concepts and techniques such as shading and working out of our sketch books using a range of different medium.

This half term we have been concentrating on drawing portraits using a variety of sketching skills, including shading. Below are some examples of our first step towards drawing portraits. The children's main focus was to create a realistic eye using light and dark shading.

The children have also been busy creating WW2 art based on the London skyline during The Blitz. The children used oil pastels to create a vibrant sky during a night of relentless bombing. The children added search lights and a black silhouette of London during 1940.
