What do you want to be? (Year 5)

What do you want to be?

What do you want to be?

What do you want to be?

This poem is a question,

and I'm asking what you dream and feel and things

Maybe you want to do make up for showers,

Maybe you will make some brushes from flowers,

Maybe you want to be a rainbow catcher,

Maybe you will be wearing bows on your toes,

Maybe you will be a wolf tribe leader,

but not like the other ones because they are meaner,

Maybe you will need lots of cleaning spray,

to clean Rudolph's face to make it shine like sun rays,

Or maybe that's not your style

Maybe you want to be a doctor for cats,

Maybe you will style some new hats,

Maybe you want to clean mud,

and take the dirt and spread it on a spud,

Maybe you want to have an normal job, like a lot of people do,

Maybe you just want to be yourself so you are like no one else,

Maybe you just want to be the first kind,

Maybe you don't want your ideas to disperse,

Maybe you want to be super smart so you can become a man calculator,

Maybe you want to be an engineer and fix an elevator,

Maybe you want to be an astronaut,

Maybe in your dreams you will levitate that thought,

But don't worry because this crazy game is not a race, and it's not up to me, school or TV to tell you your place,

It's up to you,

You've got to decide for yourself you see,

Wow tell me...what do you want to be?

A Battle Cry by Aryan A (Year 6)

We are trees.

I'm here to say we have become trees, yet we no longer sway with joy.  Rakov, he left us as helpless as a new born baby.  We have stopped fighting, stopped trying and started crying.  We must pull our roots out of the ground and fight.

This village, which was once a place filled with joy and happiness, has been burnt to the ground by Rakov.  Racov, with eyes enraged with fire, and a soul as cold as snow. We must stand up to him, as the fight has not ended.

This community, which should be filled with anger, needs to fight back.  You may think you are safe, but you should be cowering with fear.

We need to protect our country, preserve it, shield it, shelter it.  Instead of looking for a hero, be the hero.

Look around you.  Your world is burning, we must put the fire out.  Do you really want your children to see all this chaos?  Do you want your family to break even more?

Think about your family - the future!
