Spellings

New spellings will given out to children on a weekly basis.

Children may be given specific high frequency words or words from their First Words reading books as an alternative to their class spellings.

Autumn Term 1

  1. Set 1 - Words with 'aw' sound spelt 'augh' and 'au'.

  2. Set 2 - Adding prefix 'in-' (meaning 'not' or 'into')

  3. Set 3 - Adding prefix 'im-' (before a root word starting with 'm' or 'p')

  5. Set 5 - Homophones and near homophones

  6. Set 6 - Words with 'shun' sound endings spelt with 'sion' (if root word ends in 'se', 'de' or 'd')
