Year 6

Welcome back to all of Year 6 children!

We have had a really positive start to the new term in Year 6 and would like to take this opportunity to introduce our Year 6 team and our curriculum aims for the Autumn term. It is so good to see all of your children back in the classroom, and we have really enjoyed our first few weeks!

The Year 6 Team:

Class 10 – Mr Barton and Miss Davies

Class 11 – Miss Lawrenson and Miss Pearce

Class 12 – Miss Davis and Mr Wilson

Mrs White and Mrs Barton

Our Year 6 Curriculum:

Year 6 study The Victorians this term and learning across most subjects will be linked and/or related to the events of Victorian times and the influence this has had on Britain today. Within Geography, History, Art and Design & Technology we will focus on the following areas:

  • Who were the Victorians, and when were Victorian times?
  • Life for people during Victorian times, including clothing, school and work.
  • The British Empire
  • Industrial Revolution and important inventions
  • The Art work of William Morris

More details of our learning across the curriculum will soon be published on our Year 6 page on the Alumwell Junior School website, but we felt that the above key areas would be useful for parents and carers who wish for their children to research and read at home around the topic.

We are really looking forward to the rest of this term and we are sure that your children will enjoy everything that we have planned.

Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 6 Team if you have any questions or concerns. We are always more than happy to help.
