Alumwell
Junior School
At Alumwell Junior School we recognise the need for children to attend school regularly and punctually so that they get maximum benefit from the learning opportunities that are offered. Regular attendance boosts academic achievement and enhances personal development.
Supporting your child in coming to school
If you require support in getting your child into school regularly, we can offer the following support;
Medical appointments
Parents are encouraged to book routine medical appointments such as the dentist or opticians out of school hours so not to disrupt learning.
Any medical appointments that occur during the school day will require proof (i.e. letter/appointment card) in order for the absence to be authorised.
Reporting an Absence
If your child will be absent from school due to illness, please telephone school or report your child's absence on the Weduc app on each day that your child is ill. Please select option 1 when calling to leave a message on the absence line. It is imperative that you contact us as it is important for us to know that your child is safe at home. You should contact school each day that your child is off school.
Lateness
We understand that there may be occasions when your child is unavoidably late arriving at school. However, persistent lateness means your child is losing valuable learning time. It also causes problems and inconveniences for your child‘s class teacher and disrupts the education of the rest of the class. On the occasion that your child is late, please report to the office with your child for their late mark.
Absence During Term Time
All absence during term time will be unauthorised, except where there are exceptional circumstances. If you need to take your child out of school during term time, please contact the school office for an absence request form.
