Class 8 Blog

We are really looking forward to the England Match on Sunday, some of us decided to come in our England Kit and paint our faces with the England flag.

Class 8 took part in Race for Life this morning. We raised £19.00 as a class and we thoroughly enjoyed running and walking around and racing each other too! We also enjoyed cooling off in the afternoon with having a fun time on the water slide.

We have been looking at the artist Magdalene Odundo and decided to draw our own designs using chalk on our playground. We really enjoyed it!

As part of celebrating Ramadan and EID within school each class as part of doing something for charity raised money to adopt an endangered animal. Class 8 chose to adopt a Jaguar and bought cakes and watched a film to raise money. We raised £36 pound as a class for our animal. We also did a huge Jaguar and created our own Mehdi designs.

We have been looking at the key features of writing instructions and using it with our Egyptian Topic.

We followed instructions on how to Mummify a tomato. We worked in small groups and did one tomato through the mummification process and one without it. We really enjoyed doing this and we can't wait to see what happens.

We have been learning about the true story of Easter. We had a great discussion in class about whether it was right what some of Jesus' disciples did by betraying him. We then made some tissue paper collage crosses, to represent Easter in the classroom.
Today Class 8 have been creating little boxes out of Mathematical nets. This was so they could create little Mothers Day boxes with a little treat inside.

From all at Class 8. We wish you a Merry Christmas! Performed using Makaton.

Today we had our Christmas Party and a chance to play in the snow. We absolutely loved it!

Well done to our Class winners of our Class 8 Alumwell Factor. A Dance Act, A Puppet Show and a Comedian.

We had a party last week to raise money for a 4 year old boy to have some Christmas presents. We raised over £20 and were able to buy 6 lovely presents for him that we chose as a class.

We have been getting into the Christmas spirit by drawing our own Christmas Grinch.

Well done to our 3 amazing students who were so inspired by us preparing for our Shelter building DT week they decided to do their own at home.

Today we were visited by the Exotic Zoo. We were all very brave! And managed to hold and feel a range of different animals. Check it out!
In English we have been looking at Letters from the Lighthouse. We have created postcards as if we were Olive writing back to her Mom. We also created watercolour lighthouse pictures to go on the front.

Anti-Bullying week

We have been looking at Anti-Bullying week, we have looked at how to be a good friend or what we should do to help someone, who may be in need of help. The children used their own handprints and pledged 5 things they will do to be a good friend.

Bar Model

Throughout November we have been using the Bar Model method in Maths in celebrating Barvember.

Class 8 have been learning about Diwali in RE and have been learning about the importance of Rangoli Patterns too.

Remembrance Day

As part of Remembrance Day the children have been making projects at home and also making water colour poppy pictures in school. Here are a selection of those.

Fireworks Night

Some of the children in Class 8 have been making firework art to celebrate Bonfire night.

Black History Month

As part of Black History month the children have been looking at various influential Black icons and how they made an impact of what we do today including Mohammed Ali, Jesse Owens, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.

The children created pop art of Martin Luther King and created their own dream bubbles from what they would hope for the world.

In Art the children have been creating the Blitz art with watercolours and oil pastels.

Welcome back to a brand new term in now Class 8.
