Class 9 Blog

     Welcome to our class 9 blog, where we will share all our wonderful work and learning experiences. Come back regularly to see updates! All our Year 5 spellings and times tables can be found on the main Year 5 page on the tabs at the bottom.


We have loved learning about WWI and WWII in Year 5 this term. As a Year group, many children completed work to commemorate those that fought and died in both wars. The children have worked so hard across Year 5, and the final display is truly special. Take a look...

Every Picture Tells a Story

In Art this half term, children have worked on the theme 'Every Picture Tells a Story'. The have studied the work of various artists including, Banksy, Rorschach and Magdalene Odundo. Take a look at some of our highlights...

Letters From the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll and Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo

Children in Class 9 have loved reading both of these novels this term. Both stories have really supported our learning in History and painted a clear picture of what evacuation and kindertransport was like for children during WWII. Shelter building in DT

This term our DT project was frame structures and Shelters. Children had to create a frame structure by measuring, sawing, finishing and gluing wood. They then had to use this frame structure to build their shelter upon and around. This was a real challenge! One child in class said:

"I thought it would be easy, I planned to cut a few pieces of wood and stick them together and be done, but it's so much more complicated than that!" 

Children have realised the importance of planning, design, teamwork and communication during this process. They should be proud of their achievements! Here are the finished products...
